Why is Barney not popular? ›

While popular with its intended audience, Barney & Friends drew severe negative reaction from the older set, who mocked the title character in popular culture through song parodies and comedy routines such as being beaten up by NBA star Charles Barkley on a Saturday Night Live episode.

If you're a parent who has a baby that likes Barney, you should let them watch it. Kids between the ages 2-5 will probably love this movie. If you're over the age of 5, don't watch this crap. This movie gets a 1 out of 10.

One conspiracy alleged that the actor inside of the suit hid drugs in his tail, and would do lines of co*ke in between takes. Another pernicious rumor alleged that he was a sexual predator, and that the actor behind the purple character had hung himself in his suit.

In conclusion, let you're children watch Barney. It's not the worse thing on television, and it does have some good morals for the right audiences (Preschoolers and under).
