🌞 Reflections from Day Two at Tertiary Education Union Te Hautu Kahurangi o Aotearoa Action Camp 🌞Day two at Action Camp was a beautiful blend of deep discussions, creativity, nature, and learning.Te Tiriti as a Transformative FrameworkWe started the day with profound discussions on Te Tiriti as a transformative framework, led by our Kaumātua. We delved into the ongoing journey of embedding Te Tiriti within our practices. Our union is leading the charge as the first to adopt a co-governance model. We discussed the importance of understanding Te Tiriti as foundational for our nation. We explored the context of previous historical agreements, the true meaning of the kupu/words in the articles. We acknowledged our part in ownership and responsibility as tangata tiriti and tangata whenua together. Nature and MusicThe sun graced us with its presence during lunch, allowing us to enjoy some time outside. Surrounded by nature, we relished the warmth and the beauty of our surroundings. Listening to songs of rebellion and empowerment added to the inspiring and uplifting atmosphere. Who knew there were Spotify playlists for union bangers? Social Media StrategyWe engaged in a vibrant discussion about the pros and cons of social media. We explored effective ways to utilize these platforms to share our message and mobilize people. Art and ActivismWe moved into a creative activity. Each participant took a letter to sew on to a patch and decorate, contributing to a banner for our next conference. It was incredible to see everyone in a flow state, even those who were initially unsure about sewing. The connection between art and activism was evident as we discussed how art can engage people in different ways, serving as another avenue into hearts and minds. The process of making together created a deep sense of connection and accomplishment.Evening PlansAs the day winds down, we look forward to a relaxing evening with a movie by the toasty fires. The warmth and comfort of the fires provide a perfect setting to unwind and reflect on the day’s activities. So thankful I’ve had this opportunity! #UnionStrong #CreativeCollaboration #Kotare #Unionism #TertiarySector #Empowerment #TEU #activism #TEUActionCamp

Kwanzaa celebrates 7 principles, which were developed in 1965 a year prior to Kwanzaa. Each principle is a Swahili word and come together to create the 'Kawaida' or "common" philosophy: nationalist, pan-Africanist, and socialist.1. Umoja (Unity): To strive for and maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race. 2. Kujichagulia (Self-determination): To define ourselves, name ourselves, create for ourselves and speak for ourselves.3. Ujima (Collective work and responsibility): To build and maintain our community together and make our community’s problems our problems and to solve them together.4. Ujamaa (Cooperative economics): To build and maintain our own stores, shops and other businesses and to profit from them together.5. Nia (Purpose): To make our collective vocation the building and developing of our community in order to restore our people to their traditional greatness.6. Kuumba (Creativity): To do always as much as we can to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.7. Imani (Faith): To believe with all our hearts in our people and the righteousness and victory of our struggle.(Source: National Museum of African History & Culture https://buff.ly/3pju3FN )#Kwanzaa2023 #Kwanzaa #CooperativeEconimics

🎉 Announcing Our Official Launch in Prizren, Kosova 🎉https://lnkd.in/gz6_Cs8CToday is a significant milestone for SELISE Digital Platforms as we officially mark our presence in Prizren, Kosova. It was an honor to have the Prime Minister, His Excellency Albin Kurti, grace this special occasion, joining both our international and local management teams. The Backstory: About three years ago, our Swiss team was approached by passionate members of the Kosova diaspora. Their mission? To introduce and promote Kosova as a potential IT hub. While many countries globally vie for IT partnerships, Kosova presented a unique proposition:🌟 Unique Positioning: Unlike saturated IT destinations, Kosova offers a fresh, competitive landscape. At SELISE, we thrive in uncharted territories, seeking opportunities where major players might not.🌟 Diaspora Advantage: With a notable diaspora in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, we've tapped into a rich pool of German-speaking talent, enhancing our operations significantly.🌟 Economic Benefits: A flat tax rate of 15% in Kosova plus generally lower living costs ensure our team enjoys a purchasing power akin to their Central European peers, but at a fraction of the cost for both employer and employee. With these compelling reasons, our journey in Kosova began. Today, we've fostered strong partnerships with a local tech firm, assembled a robust team of 30 professionals who work in our telecom, banking, and retail sectors. More than just operations, we envision Kosova as our hub for generalist tech support, expanding to DevSecOps with the aid of our local partners.Looking ahead, our aspirations are grand. We're focused on cultivating a diverse technical talent pool, introducing our training and talent building capabilities to the country, and aiming to be the go-to employer for engineers, tech enthusiasts, and analysts in the region. To growth, commitment, and a bright future in Kosova! 🚀#SELISEKosova, #EmergingMarkets, #KosovaDiaspora, #TechInnovation, #DevSecOps, #TechnicalTalent, #NearshoreSupport, #EconomicBenefits, #GermanSpeakingTalent, #SELISEMilestones

🌟 Happy Kwanzaa🌟 As we celebrate the holiday season, let's take a moment to reflect on the principles and significance. Kwanzaa, celebrated from December 26th to January 1st, was created to reaffirm African heritage and promote unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. Each principle, or Nguzo Saba, carries important lessons that can be applied to both personal and professional lives. Unity, for example, reminds us of the power of teamwork and collaboration in achieving our goals. Self-determination encourages us to take control of our careers and strive for success. Cooperative economics emphasizes the importance of supporting minority-owned businesses and creating thriving communities. By recognizing and embracing these principles, we can foster a more inclusive and empowering work environment. Let's all take a moment to reflect on these principles and how we can integrate them. Happy Kwanzaa!

Remember the inspiring story of Kenyan runner Abel Mutai and Spanish runner Ivan Fernandez? When Mutai became confused with the signage and stopped just a few feet from the finish line, Fernandez realized what was happening and started shouting at Mutai to continue running. He even pushed Mutai to victory when he didn't understand. When asked why he did it, Fernandez replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life, where we push and help each other to win." He didn't let Mutai win, but recognized that the race was his. This story reminds us that values are passed on from generation to generation, and we must be mindful of the values we teach to our children, co-workers, and team members. Let's prioritize passing on the beauty and humanity of a helping hand, rather than coaching the wrong ways and means to win. Because at the end of the day, honesty and ethics are truly what make us winners. #BusinessEthics #Fairplay #Teamspirit #Honesty #Solidarity
