How we built a chatbot business with nay-sayers | Wes Beard posted on the topic | LinkedIn (2024)

When we launched our business just over 5 years ago, we had a lot of people who understood our vision for chatbots as a tool to maximise efficiency for businesses whilst providing an effective tool for customer service and lead generation. But we also had a lot of nay-sayers! People who would say “chatbots are terrible” or who believed the technology would never take off. Indeed the word “chatbot” was still largely unknown back in those days, unless you were directly involved in the space.Fast forward and we are now living in a world where pretty much everyone knows what a chatbot is, and with A.I. having accelerated at a phenomenal rate in the last 12 months, people and businesses are now seeing the power that this tech has to offer. But what if we had listened to the nay-sayers at the time? We could have easily accepted their opinion (as we know the tech wasn’t great back then), shuttered the business, given up and put it down to “experience”.We believed so strongly in the vision we had and that remains true to this day, evidenced by the hundreds of amazing businesses using our tech. And this has meant we can launch exciting new features of which I’ll be announcing at least one later this week.Moral of the story? If you have a strong vision and belief of the problem you are solving, AND that is evidenced by paying customers, don’t listen to the haters!(Selfie posted as LinkedIn likes that stuff 😉)#vision #chatbots #konversable

Chatbot still seems like a dirty word to many but they've not vanished. They've evolved.

Never stop….did you know that Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody which broke a record $1b mark at the world box office, had lots of ‘naaaah’s’ by the producers saying this is such a long song, with weird words, who would listen to it…! 😆

Right time, right place and the right conviction. Timing is key to prove the naysayers wrong. And you’ve done just that.

We’re giving away 100% for FREE ChatGPT-based AI ChatbotsNo hidden fees, no trial, no bullshit.Yep, you read that right.- But why? What can we possibly gain from doing this??We’re an open source company, and we’ve been since we started. This is because we believe in «serving the underserved». Call it philanthropy, kindness, crazy, but do not call it BS. This is 100% legit! The chatbot market is broken, there are way too many low quality vendors, selling low quality AI chatbots. This makes it harder to cut through, no matter the efforts. So we decided to let the public decide for themselves. If you don’t have money to pay for a subscription, or simply have too much free time, you can set it up yourself. With all of our features, our entire platform for free. This way, hopefully we can help eliminating low quality vendors, and also help the people that really needs it.If free is too expensive because your time is valuable, we’ll happily host it for you, and do all the work.#ServeTheUnderServed #Free #Chatbot #OpenSource

🤖 WhatsApp chatbots - they’re the future...if done right!🚫 Mistake #1: Over-complicating things. Hey, it's a chatbot, not rocket science. Keep it simple and user-friendly.😵💫 Mistake #2: Lack of personalization. Your bot isn't a faceless entity, it's your virtual sales rep. So, make it sound like one!🔀 Mistake #3: Not having a clear goal. Is it for customer service, sales, or information? Clear direction equals clear results. 🦻 Mistake #4: Ignoring feedback. User reviews are gold! Use them to improve your bot.🤷♂️ Mistake #5: "Set and forget". Your bot isn't a slow cooker, it needs regular updates and maintenance.Let's avoid these pitfalls and make chatbots that actually work.💬 Discover a new era of customer interaction. There is an uphill battle for chatbots - to say the least. This is why it actually matters who you partner with for your solution. It can either be great and strengthen your brand - or it can frustrate customers to the point of leaving. Maybe more companies should talk with my friends at boost.ai 😎 (And they aren't a portfolio company - I just like their solution)#chatbot #customerservice

Trying to be everything to everyone is a poor strategy 👎When strategising about what your #chatbot MUST, SHOULD or COULD 'be and deliver' it's also critical to understand what it will NEVER do!1️⃣ Never compromise on the core functionalityIt's so so tempting to add extra features to cater to every possible user need, but this can lead to confusion and frustration for users. Stick to what your chatbot does best and ensure it EXCELS in those areas.2️⃣ Never overpromise and underdeliverAvoid making grandiose claims about its capabilities if it can't consistently meet them. Setting realistic expectations ensures users aren't disappointed and helps build trust in your chatbot's abilities.3️⃣ Never replace human interaction entirely. While chatbots can handle many tasks efficiently, there are instances where human intervention will be necessary. Recognise and accept these limitations and provide users with easy access to human support when needed.See an extended version of this post in my Patreon #community. Link in the comments.
